Hello Folks,
It's time to bring the garden in for the winter here in the Mid-Atlantic States. My Watermelon plants sat there all summer and did nothing. NOW of course they want to set fruit lol. Soooo I have decided to bring them in and put them in a big pot in my bedroom and see what happens. Plus I have found this great site called Wintersown. There are seeds you can plant now so the garden gets a head start next year. It is awesome. If you have a garden you should check it out.
Now you may be asking yourself, what does this have to do with making do?  Well, I'll tell you.
In these hard times it's easy to fall into the trap of eating unhealthy fattening foods because they are cheaper than the good stuff. But you can take a pot of lettuce and put it on the windowsill and have fresh salad to supplement your diet. You can even bring in the tomatoes :-).I did it with peppers last year and I will probably do it this year too. So try it and eat healthy.
Later I will talk about what to do with those worn out clothes.
Til next time, Keep on the lookout for ways to save by Makin' Do!

Hi folks. I know I haven't been posting and I apologize.
Now is the time we need help most. So,for today.. here is a tip for those wanting to grow veggies in a limited space. If you go to your local deli and ask for the containers the salads come in. Put holes in one container and fill in with dirt and plant or seeds. Then nest in other container and water well. If you start plants/seeds now, keep near a window until the temps outside settle to the warmer side at night. Good plants are tomatoes, peppers, and lettuce.

Hi DRAGON8 here,
Welcome to Making Do.
I hope you will find and share useful tips here to make our lives easier.

I would like to share a recipe with you for stuffed hotdogs.
You slice your dogs almost in half lengthwise. Then fill with leftover mashed potatoes.
You can use instant potatoes. Then top off with half slice of cheese. Wrap with bacon, securing with toothpics if necessary. Put in oven at 350 degrees until done.
(cheese melted and bacon toasty). You can use a toaster oven. ENJOY;)
